1.15pm - 2.45pm 10-years of the Roadmap: Tackling HIV and Mobility in WA

Background: The HIV and Mobility: A Road Map for Action was published a decade ago, which outlined 71 strategies for addressing HIV and population mobility in Australia. As Australia moves closer towards the virtual elimination of HIV transmission by 2025, responding to HIV and population mobility has become more pressing if we hope to achieve this. Purpose: In WA, a significant number of HIV notifications are acquired overseas and/or among people who are born overseas. Responding to population mobility requires tailored and collaborative action. In this workshop, we will re-establish the WA Community of Practice for Action on HIV and Mobility, bringing together relevant stakeholders to collaborate on action to address HIV, sexual health, and population mobility. Target audience: Those interested in sexual health and population mobility, including those working with migrants and/or people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds and/or people who travel overseas. This includes people from community, service providers, policy makers, representatives from non-government organisations, and researchers. Workshop strategies: Hear from those working in population mobility, including lessons learnt since the Road Map and future challenges. Together, we will then brainstorm and determine the purpose of a WA CoPAHM, including clear, priority actions for the group to collaborate on in the next 12 months, and identify potential CoPAHM members. Key learnings: Lessons on responding to population mobility; input into the development of a WA CoPAHM. Relevance to theme: Determines a list of activity to work towards virtually eliminating HIV in WA, with specific focus on population mobility.
